Evelyn Adda Zickefoose Lowry, 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Friday, November 25, 2016 surrounded by family.



Evelyn was born October 2nd, 1921 to Thomas Howard Zickefoose and Ethel May Zickefoose in Pawnee County near Mannford Oklahoma. The middle child of three children she grew up with sister Lorene and brother Floyd on a farm deeded to the Zickefooses in the Oklahoma Land Run. Thanks to the farm Evelyn and her family were spared the devastation of the Great Depression and were able to help others.

Evelyn Adda Zickefoose Lowry, 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Friday, November 25, 2016 surrounded by family.



Evelyn was born October 2nd, 1921 to Thomas Howard Zickefoose and Ethel May Zickefoose in Pawnee County near Mannford Oklahoma. The middle child of three children she grew up with sister Lorene and brother Floyd on a farm deeded to the Zickefooses in the Oklahoma Land Run. Thanks to the farm Evelyn and her family were spared the devastation of the Great Depression and were able to help others.



She grew up listening to stories of her grandfather who was a Texas Ranger and who also mined silver in Colorado until he married one of the first postmistresses of the OK Territory.



Evelyn married William (Bill) Lavada Lowry Jr. on August 23rd, 1941. After moving from Oklahoma to Tennessee she raised three children as a homemaker, seamstress, peacemaker, tear wiper, hug and kiss giver and psychologist. She worked from the 1960’s to 1980 for Miller’s Department Store.



Evelyn loved to camp, fish and travel. She liked to dig for gems at the ruby mines in North Carolina and work in her yard.



She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, husband and her only son Billy in August of this year.



She is survived by daughters Karen Bechtel Symons (Fred), Marsha Church (Dan), and former daughter-in-law JoAnn McReynolds Lowry, four grandchildren Julia Beth Lowry Taylor (Sam), William Dean Lowry (Allison), Lawrence Brian Bechtel (Candy), and Byron Taylor Church (Melissa).



Four great- grandchildren Abbey LeeAnn Taylor Charles (Joey), Allison Samantha Taylor, Shelby Elise Bechtel and Jenson Elliot Bechtel.



Nephew Calvin Croy, (Jeanine), niece Joanne Zickefoose Schrum (Brian) and grandnieces and grandnephews.



Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her.



The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 12-1pm at Berry Highland Memorial with services to follow in the chapel at 1pm, Rev. John Stuart officiating. Interment will be in the Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. Friends may leave their condolences at www.highlandmemeorial.com
